Where to Find Your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique 17-character code used to identify your vehicle. You may need your VIN to check vehicle history, recalls, specifications, and ownership records.

Common Places to Find Your VIN

1. Dashboard (Driver Side)
The easiest place to find your VIN is on the dashboard near the windshield. Stand outside the vehicle and look through the lower corner of the windshield on the driver’s side.

2. Driver Door Frame
Open the driver-side door and look on the door frame or door pillar. Most vehicles have a sticker or plate showing the VIN along with tire and manufacturing information.

3. Vehicle Registration
Your VIN will be printed on your vehicle registration document.

4. Car Insurance Card
Insurance providers include your VIN on your insurance documents.

5. Vehicle Title
The official vehicle title will also list the VIN.
